Long Beach City College football head coach Brett Peabody has announced that 17 former Vikings will be transferring to four-year institutions to continue their academic and athletic careers this fall.

Long Beach City College football sophomores Taylor Bongiovanni and Kelly Harpham were named to the 2013 Southern California Football Association Scholar-Athlete team on Tuesday. Bongiovanni and Harpham were two of 80+ student-athletes that were honored by the SCFA.

Three members of the 2013 LBCC football team have signed National Letters of Intent to continue their academic and athletic careers at four-year institutions. Dennis Davis has signed with the University of California, Berkeley, Patrick Ropati will attend West Texas A&M University, and Agaufa (AA) Va’aulu will continue at Texas A&M University-Kingsville.

The Southern California Football Association has named Long Beach City College freshman quarterback Kenny Potter the Central Conference Offensive Player of the Week for his performance against Mt. San Antonio College on Saturday.

Another impressive Long Beach City College offensive outburst was wasted as the Vikings totaled over 500 yards for the fifth time in eight games this season in a 43-35 National Central Conference loss to visiting Mt. San Antonio College on Saturday at Veterans Memorial Stadium.

The Long Beach City College football team can finally look past its program worst 14-game losing streak thanks to an impressive 46-16 non-conference win at Orange Coast College’s LeBard Stadium on Saturday.

An impressive second-half comeback fell just short as the Long Beach City College football team scored 28 unanswered points but still lost 44-42 at Ventura College on Saturday. Quarterback Kenny Potter (pictured) tossed four touchdown passes and ran in for two in the loss.

The 2013 season opener for the LBCC football team and debut of new head coach Brett Peabody didn’t go as planned as the Vikings suffered a 41-21 loss to visiting Fullerton College on Saturday. Josiah Blandin (pictured) caught seven passes for 105 yards.
