The Long Beach City College football team continues its run towards a state championship this Saturday in the Southern California championship game at Saddleback College, but on Monday the Vikings racked up 16 Southern California Football Association National Division All-Central League postseason honors.

Freshman quarterback Jack Lowary's (Mater Dei HS) two-yard touchdown run with 34 seconds left in the fourth quarter capped an impressive 34-30 come-from-behind win for Long Beach City College at rival Cerritos College on Saturday night in the Southern California Bowl. With the victory, LBCC advances to next Saturday's (Nov. 28) Southern California Regional Championship game at Saddleback College.

Freshman Sergio Garcia's 19-yard field goal with no time left on the clock completed another second-half comeback for Long Beach City College as the Vikings edged visiting Allan Hancock College 20-17 in a non-league game at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Saturday night.

Following their impressive performances in the Vikings’ 38-31 double-overtime win at Mt. San Antonio College on Saturday, Long Beach City College freshmen Jack Lowary and Mike Wilson have been named National Central League Co-Offensive Players of the Week by the Southern California Football Association (SCFA).

Freshman quarterback Jack Lowary threw for 432 yards and five touchdowns while freshman wide receiver Mike Wilson collected 218 yards and four touchdowns in Long Beach City College's amazing 38-31 come-from-behind, double-overtime win at Mt. San Antonio College on Saturday night.

Long Beach City College sophomore corner back Kiante Goudeau was named the SCFA Central League Defensive Player of the Week after an impressive game against LA Harbor on Saturday.

Trailing 21-7 to visiting Los Angeles Harbor College early in the third quarter, the Long Beach City College football team needed a spark to get its offense going. But it was sophomore corner back Kiante Goudeau (Edison HS) on defense that came up with the big plays when the Vikings needed them most. Goudeau had a pair of returns for touchdowns in the third quarter as LBCC rallied to beat the Seahawks 32-27 in both teams' SCFA National Central League opener at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Saturday.

Sophomore Darren Johnson (left) ran for 212 yards and two touchdowns while sophomore Josh Fatu (right) led a relentless Long Beach City College defense with four sacks in the Vikings' 38-7 home-opener win over Bakersfield College on Saturday at Veterans Memorial Stadium.

Heading into the 2015 season, Long Beach City College football head coach Brett Peabody felt confident about his defense but knew there were question marks about his offense after watching numerous skill position players move on to Division I programs. Some of those questions might have gotten answered as the Vikings totaled 418 yards of offense in a 43-16 opening-night win at Moorpark College's Griffin Stadium on Saturday.
