Long Beach City College freshman kicker Sergio Garcia (Wilson HS) was named the National Central League Special Teams Player of the Week by the Southern California Football Association after an impressive effort in the Vikings' season-opening win at Moorpark College.
Garcia was 3 for 3 on field goals in his Viking debut. He connected on distances of 34, 38, and 42 yards as LBCC defeated the Raiders 43-16. He also made 2 of 3 extra point kicks and totaled 495 yards over five kickoffs.
Long Beach (1-0) returns to action on Saturday (Sept. 12) at 6 p.m. when the Vikings travel to Palomar College for a non-conference game.
