Football: Johnson earns State, League Player of the Week honors

Long Beach City College sophomore running back Darren Johnson (Cabrillo HS) was named the State Player of the Week by the California Community College Football Coaches Association (CCCFCA) as well as the Southern Calfornia Football Association (SCFA) National Central League Offensive Player of the Week after his big game rushing against Bakersfield on Saturday. 

Johnson ran 21 times for a career-best 212 yards with two touchdowns in Long Beach's 38-7 win. Johnson had TD runs of 32 and 22 yards. 

He is the third Viking to earn Central League Player of the Week honors this season.

Week 3 - Darren Johnson (Offensive)

Long Beach, now 3-0, returns to action on Saturday (Sept. 26) at 6 p.m. when the Vikings host LA Harbor College at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
