LBCC Football's Marcus Reynolds Named Week Eight Defensive Player of the Week

It was recently announced by the Southern California Football Association (SCFA) that sophomore defensive lineman Marcus Reynolds (Long Beach, CA) was named the week eight SCFA Defensive Player of the Week for the Central Division after his dominating performance in a 48-14 win over Chaffey College.

Reynolds was an absolute beast last Saturday night by acting as a quarterback's nightmare. He wreaked havoc in the backfield by recording two sacks for a loss of 12 yards. Additionally, he recorded seven stops with five coming solo style.

The 6'3", 244 pound Long Beach native has made 26 stops on the season and has recorded 9.5 sacks and one forced fumble. Reynold's 9.5 sacks is tied for third in the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) and second in the National-Central Division.

Reynolds has recorded at least one tackle in every contest and at least 0.5 sacks in all but on game this season.

Reynolds is the only Viking to receive Defensive Player of the Week accolades. He joins four fellow Vikings that have received Player of the Week honors this season that include freshman quarterback Jake Maier (La Habra, CA), freshman wide receiver Justin Collins (Los Angeles, CA), sophomore wide receiver Jacob Welch (Huntington Beach, CA), and sophomore wide receiver Jaylen Watson (Los Angeles, CA).
