Jacob Welch Named SCFA National Central Week 10 Offensive Player of the Week

It was recently announced by the Southern California Football Association (SCFA) that sophomore wide receiver Jacob Welch (Huntington Beach, CA) was tabbed the National Central League Offensive Player of the Week for week 10 after a dynamic showing in a 38-31 overtime victory over the top-ranked Riverside City College Tigers.

Welch hauled in his second SCFA National Central League Offensive Player of the Week of the season after earning the accolade back in week three of the season.

Welch was the main point of emphasis in Long Beach's aerial strike on Saturday. He was the game's leading receiver after hauling in 12 catches for 132 yards and a touchdown. He caught numerous deep balls and worked for many first downs that led to an 11 yards-per-catch mark.

With his 132-yard game against Riverside, Welch has totaled 100 or more yards in three games this season. In those games, he has reeled in seven or more catches. His 12 catches was the first time he reached double digits in that category on the season. In addition, Welch has found the end zone in all but three games this season.

The reliable wide out paces the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) National Central Division in receiving yards-per-game with 77.3. In addition, he is tied for second in the National Central with seven receiving touchdowns.

Welch adds to the plethora of SCFA Player of the Week awards this season, which is as follows:

Week One: Jake Maier
Week Two: Justin Collins, Jaylen Watson
Week Three: Welch
Week Four: Jake Maier, Jaylen Watson
Week Five: Marcus Reynolds
Week Eight: Marcus Reynolds
Week 10: Welch
