LONG BEACH, Calif. Long Beach City College (LBCC) is proud to announce the appointment of Marques Cooper as the Acting Director and Head Coach of Football Operations. Cooper, a seasoned collegiate coach with a proven track record of success in player development, recruiting, and strategic leadership, will lead the Vikings into the next chapter of competitive excellence.
Cooper's coaching pedigree speaks for itself. As the Defensive Coordinator and Defensive Backs Coach at LBCC, he has been instrumental in shaping one of the most formidable defensive units in the state. Under his guidance, multiple student-athletes have earned All-State and All-Conference honors, including ESPN Top 50 prospects and Division I scholarship recipients. Cooper's ability to identify and develop talent has made LBCC a prime destination for athletes seeking to excel both on and off the field.
Before joining LBCC, Cooper honed his craft at Azusa Pacific University, El Camino College, and Santa Monica College, where his defensive units consistently ranked among the state's elite. His leadership style "built on the core values of discipline, accountability, and resilience" has produced not only wins on the field but also personal growth among his players. Cooper's coaching philosophy of "Building Champions, While Pursuing Championships" reflects his unwavering commitment to developing student-athletes as competitors and leaders.
