Men's Basketball: Long Beach scores season-high 113 points to rout Compton

Five Vikings scored in double-figures with freshman guard Kristien Owens (pictured) leading with 20 points, as the Long Beach City College men's basketball team rolled to a 113-81 rout over visiting El Camino College Compton Center on Friday night at the LBCC Hall of Champions Gym.
The South Coast Conference interdivision win improved Long Beach to 9-12 overall and 6-2 in conference play. The Vikings have won five of their last six games.
Long Beach shot 58 percent from the field (28 of 48) in the first half and cruised to a 66-38 advantage at the break.
The rout was on in the second half. A layup by sophomore Jonathan Snagg at the 7:15 mark gave LBCC its biggest lead of the night, 101-65, and the Vikings were able to play its reserves for the remainder of the final 20 minutes.
Freshman Will Ervin scored 19 points, freshman Ashton Edwards had 18 points, freshman Brandon Moore chipped in with 11 points, and sophomore Holsey Johnson posted a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Compton (7-15, 1-7 SCC) got a game-high 36 points from Deraye Foote. He sank 13 of 29 shots and added six rebounds.
The Long Beach men return to action on Wednesday (Feb 1) when they travel to face Mt. San Antonio College in a 7 pm SCC game.
