A rough night shooting doomed the Vikings as No. 19 state-ranked Long Beach City College dropped an 86-71 South Coast Conference game to visiting No. 18 Cerritos College on Wednesday night at the LBCC Hall of Champions Gym.

The loss snapped the Vikings' four-game winning streak and dropped their record to 10-7 overall and 2-1 in the SCC.

LBCC shot 31 percent from the field, making just 24 of 77 shots in the game.

Long Beach trailed 42-37 at halftime before Cerritos blew the game open with a 14-3 run midway in the second to turn a five-point Falcon advantage into a 65-48 lead with 11 minutes to go.

Sophomore Kristien Owens (Wilson HS) came off the bench to score 19 points for Long Beach while freshman Chris Spencer (Jordan HS) posted a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Freshman Ryan Stewart (Hawthorne HS) led all with 13 rebounds.

Micha Winn led Cerritos (10-7, 3-0 SCC) with 21 points and Victor Jones added 20 points.

Long Beach is back in action on Friday (Jan 17) when it travels to LA Southwest College for a 5 p.m. SCC game.
