Freshman Brandon Staton (Poly HS) scored 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds to help lead the Long Beach City College men's basketball team to its seventh straight victory, a 69-58 South Coast Conference South Division win over El Camino College on Friday night at the Hall of Champions Gym.
LBCC has won 11 of its last 12 games and improved to 17-7 overall and 9-1 in SCC play.
The Vikings used an 11-1 run midway through the second half to break a 46-46 tie and jump ahead 57-47 with a little over three minutes left to play.
Freshman Elijah Gaines (San Pedro HS) added 16 points and freshman Chris Spencer (Jordan HS) posted a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
For El Camino, (2-19, 0-10 SCC), Marcus Clark came off the bench to score a team-high 18 points.
The Vikings are back in action on Wednesday (Feb. 12) at 7 pm for a SCC South game at LA Harbor College.
