No. 23 Men’s Basketball on Six-Game Winning Streak

The state-ranked No. 23 Long Beach City College men's basketball team defeated the Pasadena City College Lancers 87-80 in a thrilling game on Wednesday evening. With the sixth-consecutive win, the Vikings advance to 13-4. The Vikings totaled 40 rebounds, 23 assists and were 84% at the free throw line.

The Vikings outshot the Lancers 45-39 in the first half, but then had to fight to hold on to the lead in the second half. The Lancers scored 41 points, while the Vikings hit 42 more points to take home the 87-80 win.

Sophomore guard Kester Ofoegbu led the team with 18 points, while freshman guard Khieem Williams nailed the double-double of 14 points and 12 rebounds.

Sophomore guard Aaron Jelks also was a double-double recipient with 17 points and 11 assists. Jelks was also perfect at the line for the Vikings, hitting 6-6 in free throws.

The No. 23 Vikings will be back in action on Friday, Jan. 17 at East Los Angeles College. At 6 p.m.
