Men's Basketball's Bass Signs NLI to LA Tech

Long Beach City College men's basketball sophomore forward Jace Bass has signed a national letter of intent with Louisiana Tech University (LA Tech) to continue his athletic and academic career on a full scholarship.

In the 2018 season, Bass was named the South Coast Conference (SCC) Most Valuable Player as he led the SCC with averaging 24.9 points, 7.9 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.2 steals per game. At the line, he averaged 82.1% and totaled 249 points in conference action. He took his team all the way to the final round of the SoCal Regional Playoffs, where the Vikings ultimately fell to the Citrus College Fighting Owls and ended the season with a 25-5 overall record.

This year with the Vikings, he started in 16 games before falling victim to a season-ending injury. Before the injury, Bass led the team with averaging 30.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.3 steals per game. Jace was a huge asset to the Vikings' offense and was consistent at the line with shooting 79.9%.

Bass will compete at LA Tech starting next Fall. The Bulldogs are led by 5th year head coach Eric Konkel and compete at the NCAA Division I level and are a member of Conference USA.
