Men’s Basketball Takes Down Canyons in Home Opener   

In a thrilling match between Long Beach and Canyons, Long Beach secured a hard-fought victory with an 83-79 scoreline. Sophomore Brandon Cerda emerged as a standout player, showcasing his skills by leading the team with 18 points and contributing significantly with 8 assists. Freshman Franklyn Chambers made his mark with 12 points, adding to the team's impressive performance.

The real highlight, though, came from freshman Kunique Yandall Parker, who delivered a stellar double-double performance. Parker's impactful play saw him securing 16 points along with an impressive 13 rebounds, demonstrating his versatility and crucial role in securing Long Beach's victory.

"I am so proud of the way we competed on defense in the second half," said Director of Basketball Operations/ Head Coach Barry Barnes. "We must continue to do that for us to win."

The game was a testament to Long Beach's determination and skill, with standout performances from key players like Cerda, Chambers, and Parker contributing significantly to their success on the court.

The Long Beach City College Vikings will return to the court on Nov. 30 at 7 p.m. against Southwestern College at West LA College in the Wild West Shootout Tournament.
