The Long Beach City College men's soccer team continued its late run to claim a postseason berth with a 3-0 South Coast Conference win over visiting El Camino College-Compton Center on Tuesday at LBCC.

The Vikings have won three of their last four games and are unbeaten in their last six contests. Long Beach, now 7-6-7 overall and 4-5-4 in the SCC, faces another must-win game on Friday (Nov 15) when the Vikings close out the regular season at home against El Camino College at 3 p.m.

On Tuesday, the Vikings needed just nine minutes to turn a tight game into a rout. After a scoreless first half, LBCC finally got on the board in the 62nd minute when freshman Alex Martinez (Artesia HS) headed in a corner kick from sophomore Robert Burgos (Millikan HS) for a Viking goal.

Four minutes later, another Burgos corner kick was headed in, this time by freshman Joel Atilano (Artesia HS) to give LBCC a 2-0 advantage in the 65th minute.

And freshman Jose Pineda (Compton HS) closed out the scoring with his breakaway goal off the pass from freshman Jose Garcia (Artesia HS) in the 71st minute.

Freshman Kifi Cabrera (Poly HS) had four saves in goal to post LBCC's fourth shutout of the season while Manuel Leon had three saves for Compton (6-10-4, 1-8-4 SCC).
