Sophomore Jose Garcia scored Long Beach City College's lone goal in a 2-1 South Coast Conference loss to visiting Cerritos College on Friday at LBCC.
With the loss, Long Beach dropped to 2-3-3 overall and 0-2-0 in SCC play. Cerritos, ranked No. 8 in the nation, improved to 7-1-1 and 2-0-0 in conference play.
The Falcons got first-half goals from Sebastian Velasquez (21st minute) and Jose Ochoa (25th minute to take a 2-0 lead to the break.
Garcia finally got the Vikings on the board in the 77th minute to break up the shutout. Freshman Daniel DeHaro posted three saves in goal for Long Beach.
The Vikings travel to East Los Angeles College for a SCC game on Tuesday (Oct. 7).
