Men’s Soccer: Long Beach gets third straight shutout, win 1-0 at Pasadena

Sophomore Erik Carbajal's (Lakewood HS) second-half goal in the 48th minute gave the Long Beach City College men's soccer team all the offense it needed to defeat the Pasadena City College Lancers 1-0 at PCC on Tuesday.

LBCC improved to 5-4-4 and 3-3-1 despite the Lancers outshooting the Vikings, 14-12.

Long Beach scored the game's lone goal when Carbajal perfectly placed a free kick from 23 yards out into the upper left corner of then net.

Pasadena had few quality scoring chances as the Long Beach defenders beat the Lancers' midfielders and forwards to loose balls in Vikings' territory.

Freshman Daniel DeHaro (Cabrillo HS) posted five saves in goal for his third consecutive shutout.

PCC goalie David Orellana made six saves, including a spectacular tipaway of a close-range blast by freshman Osvaldo Yanez (Los Alamitos HS) in the 16th minute.

The Vikings return to action when they host Los Angeles Harbor College on Friday (Oct 27) at 4 p.m.
