Men’s Soccer Extends Winning Record to 7-0

The Long Beach City College men's soccer team displayed flawless defense against Taft College at the Viking Soccer Field on Friday evening. The Vikings beat the Cougars 1-0 to continue their seven-game undefeated winning streak.

Sophomore goalkeeper Andres Figueroa-Flores was the glue that held the team together with his leadership and athleticism. Figueroa-Flores had one save over four shots to shut out the Cougars.

Both teams battled the entire game to keep control offensively. The Vikings totaled eleven shots on goal with finally making one in the final four minutes of the game.

Freshman midfielder Ruben Menjivar led the team with four shots on goal. Finally, when it came to the last corner kick, Menjivar put the ball in the air to align with freshman defender Anthony Mejia for the solid header into the back of the Cougar's net to take the 1-0 win and extend their winning streak to seven games.

Men's soccer looks to continue their winning streak on Friday, Sept. 22 against LA Mission at 4 p.m at the Viking Soccer Field.
