The men's soccer team shut out the Cypress College Chargers 2-0 on Wednesday afternoon at the Viking Soccer Field. Freshman goalkeeper Mario DeLaTorre blocked all shots against him to keep the Chargers away.

The Vikings controlled the first half with ease. The Chargers defense received a hand ball in the penalty box, which resulted in a penalty kick for the Vikings. Sophomore Ruben Menjivar made the penalty shot to put Long Beach on the board. For the Vikings second goal, the Chargers goalkeeper came out on the attack and sophomore midfielder Oskar Raymundo passed to sophomore forward Carlos Maldonado, who then assisted freshman Sahleek Joubert for the goal.

The Vikings kept their offensive momentum in the second quarter by totaling 12 shots on goal, but weren't able to complete.

Long Beach finished the game with the 2-0 win over the Chargers and they play again at home on Friday, Sept. 14 against LA Mission College at 4 p.m.
