Men’s Soccer Set to Play Oxnard in SoCal Regionals

The No. 7 men's soccer team has qualified for the 2018 California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) SoCal Regional Playoffs. The Vikings are set to travel to No. 5 Oxnard College (13-4-4, 6-1-3) on Saturday, Nov. 17 at 2 p.m.

Long Beach completed the 2018 season with a 12-4-4 overall record and finished second in South Coast Conference-South Division with a 4-1-3 record.  

Sophomore forward Carlos Maldonado led the conference 15 assists and ranked third overall in with nine goals and 52 shots taken throughout the season. Sophomore midfielder Ruben Menjivar was right behind Maldonado in goals made with eight total goals scored.

Freshman goalie Mario DeLaTorre was ranked fourth overall in conference with .708 save percentage.

This is the fifth meeting between the Vikings and the Condors in the SoCal Regionals and the eleventh postseason appearance under head coach Cameron Beaulac. The Vikings have played the Condors in 2011, 2014, 2015 and 2017. In their last meeting in 2017, the Vikings lost 2-1 on their home turf.
