Vikings post second consecutive shutout, play San Bernardino Valley to scoreless tie

Goalkeeper Oliver Juarez and the Long Beach City College men's soccer team posted their second consecutive shutout, and their third of the year, to bring this season's record to 2-1-4. Juarez was called on to make only two saves in the game as the team's constant pressure was able to keep San Bernardino Valley away from the goal.

Led by the central tandem of Adrian Acevedo (Long Beach Jordan H.S.) and Manny Ramirez (Valencia H.S.), as well as outside backs Eduardo Nunes (Paramount H.S.), Brian Chang (Los Alamitos H.S.) and Alejandro Cabello (Millikan H.S), the Vikings have only given up one goal this year from the field of play.

Tuesday's game is one that once again saw LBCC dominate both possession and the game from the back third of the field into the front third. Unfortunately, they were unable to make much happen in the final third. In the 16th minute of play, Carlos Bahena (Anaheim H.S./Goldenwest College) gave a perfectly laid short chip shot over the defense that set Diego Albanez (Valley Christian H.S.) free on a breakaway. Unfortunately, the goalkeeper made a great kick save on the shot attempt to keep the ball out of the back of the net. Chang led the team with two shots on goal.

LBCC's next game is Friday at 4:00 at Orange Coast College. This game is a make-up of last Friday's game that was cancelled after 10 minutes of play due to lightning. Orange Coast comes into the game with a 4-1-1 record, and a No. 18 ranking in the state.
