Vikings earn 1-0 home victory over Los Angeles City

In a defensive battle, the Vikings came away with a home victory against Los Angeles City College, winning 1-0.

Long Beach came out ready to attack and put the pressure on the opponents early on. Diego Albanez (Valley Christian H.S.) had two near misses early, the keeper making a fine save on the second attempt. At minute 17, Long Beach was awarded a free kick from 25 yards out. Jesus Moreno (Millikan H.S.) stepped up and coolly placed the ball in the upper V giving Long Beach the only goal it would need in the contest.

The shutout was the fifth of the season for Oliver Juarez (Downey H.S.) and the team. Juarez was called on to make seven saves in the contest.

Noteworthy performances were put in by midfielder Carlos Bahena (Anaheim H.S.) and defender Adrian Acevedo (L.B. Jordan H.S.).

The victory brings the teams overall record to 4-1-4 (1-0-0). The Vikings plan on continuing their undefeated home season in Veterans Stadium, Friday, at 3:00, versus Pasadena City College.
