Men's Swimming & Diving: Vikings cruise to 174-89 SCC win over El Camino

The Long Beach City College men's swimming & diving team improved to 3-0 in South Coast Conference dual meets after a convincing 174-89 win over visiting El Camino College on Friday at the LBCC Aquatic Center.

The Long Beach men won 10 of 15 events with sophomore Bradley Adamson (Lakewood HS)  and freshman Mac Aakhus (Bakersfield, CA) leading the way with two individual victories.

Adamson took first in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:32.49) and 100-yard freestyle (49.97) while Aakhus won the 200-yard butterfly (2:24.72) and 200-yard backstroke (2:13.41). The duo also teamed up with sophomore Lance Reeves (Houston, TX) and freshman Brant Rider (Houston, TX) to win the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:44.70.

Other winners for Long Beach included freshman Michael Carrillo (Servite HS) in the 50-yard backstroke (58.92), Reeves in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:08.02), sophomore Samuel Castillo in the 1 & 3-meter dive (138.50 points), Ryan McDonald (pictured) in the 200-yard IM (2:12.30), and the 400-yard freestyle relay team of sophomores Matthew Collins and Anthony Frens, and freshmen Dylan Thompson (Los Alamitos HS) and Eric Zivirbulis (3:40.85).

LBCC hosts another SCC dual meet next Friday (Mar 23) at 12:30 pm and will face Rio Hondo and Chaffey.
