Men’s Swimming & Diving: Vikings pick up two dual meets wins at Cerritos

The Long Beach City College Men's Swimming & Diving team earned a pair of South Coast Conference dual-meet wins on Friday at Cerritos College to move to 3-0 on the season. LBCC took first place in 11 of 15 events at the three-way meet on its way to a 210-34 win over Los Angeles Trade-Tech and a 166-108 victory against host Cerritos.

Leading the way for the Vikings were freshman Mark Denison and sophomore Frankie Cervantes with three wins each.

Denison took first in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:58.44), 100 freestyle (50.14), and 50 freestyle (22.79) while Cervantes was the winner in the 100 breaststroke (1:04.27), 200 breaststroke (2:23.18), and 200 IM (2:11.12).

Freshman Aaron Mowl also had a good day, taking first in both the 100 backstroke (59.53) and 200 backstroke (2:10.85).

Other first-place marks for the Vikings included the 200-yard medley relay (1:44.20), sophomore Ryan Dionne in the 200 butterfly (2:07.68), and sophomore Conor Shuey in the 500 freestyle (5:09.61).

Long Beach, now 3-0 in dual meets, returns to action next Friday (Mar. 25) at 12 p.m. when the Vikings travel to Mt. San Antonio College for a three-way meet against the host Mounties and Chaffey College.
