LBCC Men's Swimming & Diving Place Eighth at Mt. SAC Invite

The Long Beach City College men's swimming and diving team traveled to Walnut, CA this past weekend to compete in the Mt. SAC Invitational for their first official meet of the season. The Vikings saw eight events and athletes land in the top-10 leading to a team finish of eighth place (237.5 pts.).

Sophomore Aaron Mowl (St. John Bosco HS) earned four top-10 finishes on in the opener highlighted by a bronze medal showing in the 100 Back with a time of 56.70. Mowl continued on to place sixth overall in the 200 Back with a mark of 2:07.17, followed by a 10th place showing in the 100 Free after touching the wall with a time of 50.49. He capped off the meet with a ninth place showing in the 50 Back at a time of 28.76 as well.

Sophomore Mark Denison (Millikan HS) performed well by placing in the top-10 in three events. His best showing came in the 100 Free where he hauled in the bronze medal with a time of 49.20. He backed his efforts with a 200 Free time of 1:49. 28 to earn him fourth place. Denison then capped off his meet with a solid showing in the 50 Free with a time of 22.53.

Freshman Ian Dretzka recorded the eighth top-10 finish in the 100 IM by touching the wall with a time of 59.82 to earn himself seventh place.

The Vikings will look to make waves in the first conference tri-meet on Friday, March 10 by facing off against Cerritos and Chaffey College. The meet is set to begin at 12:30 p.m.
