The Long Beach City College men's and women's swimming team hosted their first meet of the year at the Viking Aquatic Center Friday afternoon that featured the Rio Hondo Road Runners and the East Los Angeles College Huskies. Long Beach was dominant in the pool with the Vikings producing a combined total of 20 first-place showings.

To kick-off the swim meet, both the men's and women's teams took first place in the 200 yard medley relay. The women came in with a time of 2:03.04 and the men finished with a 1:49.81.

Long distance swimmer Felipe Carsalade was a solid asset for the Vikings by placing first in the 200 yard free style, the 200 yard backstroke and the 500 yard freestyle.  Breast stroker Andrew Ingram also placed first in all his races with getting a 1:08.34 in the 100 yard breast stroke and a 2:34.32 in the 200 yard breaststroke, then he went on to take first in the 200 yard individual medley with a 2:16.89.

Sophomore long distance swimmer Charli Chavarria went the distance for the Vikings with a first place finish in the 1000 yard freestyle with a 12:53.82 and also in the 500 yard free with a 6:08.65. Sophomore Lindsey Mizrahi also placed first in the 100 yard freestyle with a solid 1:00.02.

Sophomore sprinter Cori Reynolds held her own as she earned three first place finishes for the 100 yard breaststroke, the 50 yard freestyle, and the 200 yard breaststroke.  

The Vikings will compete again on Thursday, April 19 at the South Coast Conference Swim Championships.
