Swim Takes First Against Cerritos and Chaffey in Conference Meet

The Vikings swim team competed against Cerritos and Chaffey College in their first conference meet of the year at Cerritos College. Both the men's and the women's teams took home first place showings to win the meet.

The men's team started the meet with the a first place win in the 200-yard medley relay with sophomore Michael Baker, freshman Sullivan Moore, sophomore Rory Kleven and freshman Jose Loubriel.

Then freshman Jillian Schultz and freshman Rachel Westphal took first and second place showings in the 200-yard free style. Klevin was back on the podium in first place with the men's 200-yard free style and sophomore Kelly Zavala was on top in the 200-yard backstroke.

Baker also earned first in the 100-yard backstroke and the 200-yard backstroke and Moore in the 100-yard breaststroke and in the 50-yard freestyle. The Vikings kept the first place showings rolling with sophomore Karissa Qualley in the 100-yard free with a 59.73, and sophomore Alejandra Villa in the 100-yard butterfly with a 1:09.62.

The Vikings swim team will compete again on Friday, Mar. 6 at home against El Camino and East Los Angeles College at 10 a.m.
