No. 1 Long Beach sweeps No. 4 LA Pierce in WSC opener

The No. 1 state-ranked Long Beach City College men's volleyball team opened up the Western State Conference schedule with a 3-0 sweep at No. 4 Los Angeles Pierce College on Wednesday night.

LBCC won the match in convincing fashion by scores of 25-21, 25-23, and 25-17 to improve its record to 7-0 overall and 1-0 in the WSC. With the loss, Pierce dropped 5-3 and 0-1 in conference play.

Freshman Jo'Lon Clark (Poly HS) led the Vikings with nine kills, three blocks and three aces. Sophomore Rob McLean (East Northport, NY) chipped in with eight kills, four digs and three blocks, and freshman Brett Anema (Valley Christian HS, pictured) added five kills, five blocks and five digs.

Long Beach returns to action on Friday (Mar 9) when it hosts Santa Monica College in a 6 pm conference match.
