Men's Volleyball: Former Viking Chris Austin wins NCAA Championship
Former Viking Chris Austin helped lead UC Irvine to a men’s volleyball NCAA Championship on Saturday. Austin, the starting setter for the Anteaters, had 48 assists and 15 digs in the national championship final win over USC at the Galen Center.
Former Viking Chris Austin helped lead UC Irvine to a men's volleyball NCAA Championship on Saturday. Austin, the starting setter for the Anteaters, had 48 assists and a season-high 15 digs in the national championship final win over USC.
UC Irvine won the match by scores of 25-22, 34-32, 26-24 in front of a crowd 9,612 at the Galen Center to earn its third national title in six years.
Austin was named to the NCAA Championships all-tournament team.
Austin was a first-team All-Western State Conference selection for LBCC in 2011 and helped lead the Vikings to a pair of conference titles and State Championship semifinals appearances (2010-11).
