Men's Volleyball: Vikings outlast Golden West in five for big road win

The defending state champion Long Beach City College men's volleyball team came out on top of a big early-season match by beating Golden West College on the road in five sets on Friday night. LBCC won the match by scores of 31-33, 25-22, 25-23, 20-25, and 15-12.

Sophomore Jo'Lon Clark led the Vikings with 17 kills, sophomore Greg Utupo (pictured) added 16 kills, while freshman Austin Arcala had a good all-around night with 10 kills, nine digs, and five blocks.

Long Beach is now 2-0 after winning Wednesday night's season opener by forfeit over San Diego City College. The Vikings are back in action on Wednesday (Feb. 6) when they host San Diego Mesa College in a 6 p.m. non-conference match.
