In one of the most thrilling matches in Long Beach City College men’s volleyball history, the Vikings erased a 23-19 Set 4 deficit and prevailed in five to defeat the Golden West College Rustlers in the second semifinal of the 2016 California Community College Athletic Association State Championship at Pierce College in Woodland Hills.

The dynamic duo of sophomore Joshua Nehls and freshman Andrew Pearson combined for 29 kills to lead Long Beach City College to its 10th straight win as the Vikings beat visiting El Camino College 21-25, 25-21, 25-19, 25-23 on Friday night in a Western State Conference match.

Long Beach City College extended its winning streak to seven matches thanks to a 25-22, 25-16, 25-12 victory at San Diego City College on Friday night. The non-conference win improved the Vikings to 7-2 overall.

Freshman Andrew Pearson (pictured) totaled 10 kills and seven digs to help lead Long Beach City College to a 25-17, 25-12, 25-23 sweep of visiting San Diego Mesa College on Wednesday in a non-conference match at LBCC. After dropping their first two matches of the season, Long Beach has now won six straight to improve to 6-2 overall.

Playing on consecutive nights on Wednesday and Thursday, the Long Beach City College men’s volleyball picked up a pair of wins by sweeping Miramar in its home opener and getting a 3-1 victory at Grossmont to extend their winning streak to three matches.
