Men’s Volleyball: Long Beach gets 13th straight win with sweep of L.A. Trade-Tech

Long Beach City College needed just 56 minutes to earn a 25-16, 25-10, 25-10 sweep of visiting Los Angeles Trade-Tech College on Wednesday. The Western State Conference victory extended the Vikings' winning streak to 13 matches and improved LBCC to 13-2 overall and 6-0 in the WSC.

Head coach Jonathan Charette was able to give his regular starting lineup the night off against winless Trade-Tech (0-8, 0-5 WSC). Freshman Taylor Dorr Kona, HI/Kealakehe HS) had a big night for the Vikings as he totaled 18 of LBCC's 35 kills. He hit .464 for the match while adding five digs and three aces.

Freshman setter Jayce Ashment (Gilbert, AZ/Highland HS) totaled 28 assists to go along with four aces and two blocks while freshman Michael Huchel (Valley Christian HS) had six kills, five digs, and three blocks. Freshman Donald Garo (Ka'u, HI/Ka'u HS) also chipped in with five kills, six digs, and two blocks.

Long Beach will look to push its winning streak to 14 when the Vikings host Santa Barbara City College on Friday (Mar. 25) at 6 p.m. in a conference match.
