No. 3 LBCC Men's Volleyball Moves into First Place after Five-Set Thriller against No. 4 Warriors

The No. 3 Long Beach City College men's volleyball team looked to take sole possession of first place in the Western State Conference Southern Division this past Friday by facing off against the No. 4 El Camino College Warriors on the road. After the Vikings worked to earn a two-set lead entering into the third set, the Warriors fought back to tie the contest at 2-2. However, a two-point edge in the fifth set handed the Vikings a 3-2 match victory.

It was a well-balanced attack once again for Long Beach with a trio of players earning double-digit kills. Sophomore outside hitter Travis O'Gorman (East Northport, NY) was the most efficient of the bunch by hammering home 20 kills and earning a .410 kills percentage. Sophomore outside hitter Cyrus Fa'alogo (Salt Lake City, UT) notched his 13th double-digit kills game by denting the deck for 20.

Freshman outside hitter Steven Rotter (La Palma, CA) landed in double-digit kills with 10 while earning the final point in the fifth set. Sophomore middle Elai Mama (Moreno Valley, CA) continued man the middle with power by rising up for seven stuffs.

Long Beach utilized a sophomore setting tandem that featured Gary Trejo (Downey, CA) and Jayce Ashment (Gilbert, AZ). They combined for a total of 46 assists. 

The Vikings (12-3, 3-0) move into sole possession of first place with the victory. They look to expand their lead by facing off against No. 5 Santa Monica on Friday, April 7th at home at 6 p.m.
