No. 1 Men’s Volleyball Sweeps No. 2 Orange Coast in Home Opener

The top-ranked Long Beach City College men's volleyball team swept the No. 2 Orange Coast Pirates 3-0 on Wednesday evening to extend their winning streak to seven games in a row. The Vikings had no problem taking down the Pirates with set scores of 26-24, 25-19, 25-14.

Sophomore outside hitter Steven Rotter paced the Vikings by smashing 10 kills on 17 attempts. He also added two digs and one three total blocks. Sophomore outside hitter Andrew Pearson was near perfect at the net with eight kills on 10 attempts and one service ace for the Vikings.

Freshman outside hitter Rémi Pourrat also chimed in with six kills, two assists and one service ace. Freshman setter Melbe Perez was the catalyst behind the ball with 26 assists for Long Beach. Sophomore libero Stephen Morales demonstrated his ball control skills by tallying up eight digs.

The Vikings will play again on Friday, Feb. 16 at Pierce College at 6 p.m.
