No. 1 Long Beach City College Men’s Volleyball Brings in Third-Consecutive Western State Southern Division Conference Title

The No. 1 Long Beach City College men's volleyball team hauled in their third-consecutive Western State Southern Division Conference Championship on Friday evening in the thunderous Building Q Gym and closed out their regular season with a perfect, undefeated 19-0 record and 6-0 in conference play.

The Vikings demolished the first two sets (25-21, 25-15) against the No. 4 El Camino College Warriors, but then dropped the third set (23-25) by a slight two points. The Vikings rebounded strongly to take the fourth and final set and the conference title with a victory over the El Camino College Warriors 4-1.

Sophomore opposite Steven Rotter reigned supreme over the Warriors with tallying 17 kills, two digs and one block assist. Rotter is fifth in the state with an average of 3.65 kills per set.

Freshman outside hitter Rémi Pourrat led the team with a .615 kill percentage and brought in 14 total points for the Vikings. Pourrat had eight digs against El Camino and blocked three Warrior attacks.

Sophomore outside hitter Andrew Pearson was a machine on the court with a .800 kill percentage and smashed eight kills. Pearson sits in the number one spot as the leader in the state with a hitting percentage of .543.

After the Vikings dropped the third set by two points, they came back to the court ready for more action. The Vikings finished the fourth set perfectly with zero errors and accuracy of .682.

Sophomore libero Jeriel Apelar signed, sealed, and delivered the final points against the Warriors with back-to-back service aces to finalize the Vikings' third Western State Southern Division Conference win and their flawless 19-0 record for regular season.
