Vikings Stay Undefeated in Conference with 3-1 Win Over Santa Barbara
The Vikings men’s volleyball team secured a 3-1 victory over Santa Barbara City College last Friday evening.
The Vikings men's volleyball team secured a 3-1 victory over Santa Barbara City College last Friday evening, winning by set scores of 25-18, 26-24, 24-26, and 25-17. With the win, the Vikings remain undefeated in Western State Conference play at 3-0 and improve to 7-5 overall.
Sebastian Kim led the offensive charge with 15 kills, hitting .345 while adding eight digs and one block for a match-high 16 points. Sergio Garcia and Alden Jacobs each contributed 12.0 points, with Garcia recording 11 kills and Jacobs adding nine kills and a team-high 11 digs. Jared Preciado provided an efficient performance with six kills on a .400 hitting percentage and four blocks.
"That was a great game," said Head Coach Josh Nehls. "One of our goals was to have a positive point differential—we've been finding ourselves in the negative a lot, and today we hit that goal. I'm very happy with that."
"It's an incredible feeling to win against an excellent team," said Kim. "We put up the things we practiced on the court, and everyone really balled out today."
The Vikings will look to extend their winning streak as they continue conference against Santa Monica on Wednesday, March 12 at 6 p.m. in the Hall of Champions.
