The No. 4 state-ranked Long Beach City College men's water polo team earned two wins on the opening day of the Riverside City College tournament.

Sophomore Michael Carrillo had three goals to lead the Vikings in a 13-10 morning win over Ventura. Later in the day, sophomore Dor Apffel had six goals to pace Long Beach in a narrow 13-12 win over No. 6 Riverside.

The Vikings, now 7-2 overall, return to tournament action on Saturday (Oct. 6) and will face No. 7 LA Valley at 8 a.m. and No. 5 Cerritos at 1:50 p.m.
