Men's Water Polo: Long Beach routs Chaffey 17-3 in SCC finale

Sophomore Brant Rider (pictured) scored four goals to lead No. 5 state-ranked Long Beach City College to a 17-3 South Coast Conference win over visiting Chaffey College on Wednesday.

The Vikings' offensive attack was too much for Chaffey to contain. LBCC jumped out to an 8-1 first quarter lead, was up 10-1 at halftime, and held a 14-1 advantage before Chaffey finally broke the Vikings' 13-goal run with a score by Jacob Oller with 55 seconds left in the third quarter.

LBCC head coach Chris Oeding was able to play his reserves for most of the contest. Nine different Vikings scored in the rout. Sophomores Lance Reeves and Tony Frens as well as freshman Jessie Hernandez all added three goals for Long Beach.

Long Beach closes the regular season with a 14-5 overall record and was undefeated in SCC play at 5-0. LBCC will be the top seed at next week's (Nov. 1-3) South Coast Conference Championships at Pasadena City College.
