Men’s Water Polo: Long Beach cruises to 21-8 rout of Chaffey

Sophomore Jack Ellinthorpe had a game-high four goals, while 11 other Vikings scored in a 21-8 South Coast Conference win over visiting Chaffey College on Wednesday.

Sophomore Jack Ellinthorpe (Granite Bay HS) had a game-high four goals, while 11 other Vikings scored in a 21-8 South Coast Conference win over visiting Chaffey College on Wednesday.

With the win, Long Beach improved to 5-2 overall and 1-0 in SCC play.

Ellinthorpe scored three consecutive goals in the first quarter to give the Vikings a 6-1 lead. Five different Vikings scored in the second to extend the Long Beach advantage to 13-3 at halftime. Sophomore Blake Grove (Newport Harbor HS) went on to score three second-half goals for LBCC.

LBCC returns to action on Saturday (Sep. 27) at 12 p.m. when it travels to NCAA Division I Long Beach State University.
