SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA REGIONALS BRACKET
The South Coast Conference champion Long Beach City College Vikings have received the No. 2 seed for this weekend's Southern California Regional Championship tournament. The three-day event runs November 12-14 at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut.
The Vikings take a 20-4 overall record into the regionals. LBCC gets a first-round bye and will play the winner of No. 7 Riverside City College and No. 10 San Diego Mesa College on Friday at 11:30 a.m. A win in that contest would advance the Vikings to a Saturday morning semifinal match against the winner of No. 3 Cerritos College and No. 6 Cuesta College.
Saturday's championship final is set for 2:45 p.m. The top two teams from the Southern California Regionals advance to the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Water Polo State Championship on November 20-21 at Pasadena City College.
Last season, LBCC finished second at the SoCal Regionals, falling 9-5 to Golden West College in the final. The Vikings advanced to the State Championships only to lose to the Rustlers once again, 5-2 in the state final.
Long Beach looks to win its 10th state championship overall after last winning in 2013.
