The Long Beach City College men's water polo squad overpowered L.A. Trade Tech in all aspects of the game during its season opener on Wednesday evening. The Vikings sailed to a 25-3 victory with 10 players scoring at least one goal.

Long Beach tormented L.A. Trade Tech on both ends of the pool by allowing just a handful of shots and just three scores throughout the contest.

Freshman center Gavin Kunkle (Newport Beach, CA) kicked off the dangerous offensive attack by humming home four first-period scores. He contributed one assists as well. Freshman attacker Andrew Ingram (Long Beach, CA) and sophomore defender Jack Larson (Yorba Linda, CA) chipped in three goals apiece in the first period leading to a 19-0 advantage at halftime.

It was smooth sailing after the opening period as the Vikings added five more goals in the game. Freshman attacker Myles Martinez (La Jolla, CA) finished with three goals and three assists, while freshman defender Chaz Harker (Bakersfield, CA) chipped in three goals and an assist as well.

The Vikings (1-0) will hit the road to face El Camino on Wednesday, September 14 at 4:15 p.m.
