The Long Beach City College men's water polo team continued to make waves in the pool this past Wednesday by taking on Chaffey College in conference action. The Vikings cruised to a 19-3 tromping that featured plenty of offense and solid defense.

It was a tight contest in the opening minutes of the game after a quick three-goal lead was trimmed down to just one at one goal advantage. Chaffey responded to a three quick LBCC goals compliments of Myles Martinez and Gavin Kunkle.

Nevertheless, the Vikings took control of the reigns and went on a 13-goal scoring streak that stretched through the entire second period and part of the third period. In that span, Chaz Harker ripped home three goals, while Martinez added two more.

Carl Matthews contributed to the downpour of scores by adding two goals in the fourth period, while Luke Abell etched a pair of points on the scoreboard en route to the 19-3 victory.

Nick Wood continued to guard the posts efficiently by reeling in nine saves in four quarters of play. With this win, Wood has hauled in five-consecutive wins.

The Vikings are currently in a battle against Golden West. Please revisit the season schedule for further information on the contest.
