Men's Water Polo Smashes Chaffey in Third Straight Conference Win

The men's water polo team earned their third-straight conference win over the Chaffey College Panthers on Wednesday afternoon at the Viking Aquatics Complex. The Vikings demolished the Panthers with a 22-7 victory. Sophomore goalkeeper Carl Matthews was the wall in the cage with three big stops against Chaffey.

In the first quarter, Long Beach was neck-and-neck with Chaffey and the teams were tied 4-4. Sophomore attacker Myles Martinez was the offensive catalyst and scored four our of nine goals in the first half. 

Long Beach put a stop to the Panthers in the third quarter and took the lead 15-7. Martinez scored three more goals in the third, totaling seven goals for the Vikings. Freshman defender Felipe Carsalade was close behind with five goals to round out the top shooters. 

Freshman attacker Hutton Stewart took to the fourth quarter to score two goals and the Vikings finalized the game with the 22-7 conference win.

Men's water polo will play again on Friday, Oct. 13 in the Riverside Mini Tournament.
