It was recently announced by the South Coast Conference (SCC) that seven Long Beach City College men's water polo players were honored with All-SCC selections after a 6-1 conference season. Leading off the awards was sophomore attacker Karlo Krmek who was named the 2018 SCC Most Valuable Player of the Year. Sophomore driver Felipe Carsalade, freshman attacker Hugo Roscio, sophomore attacker Kobe Jackson, and freshman center Ivan Mercep were all named to the first-team all-conference list, while freshmen attackers Fabio Mujica and Aleksa Vucurovic earned spots on the second-team list.

Alongside the All-Conference selections, Coach Chris Oeding was honored with the 2018 SCC Men's Water Polo Coach of the Year Award. This season Oeding led the team to a 19-9 season. This is the Vikings' second-consecutive conference first-place showing. While under Oeding, the men's water polo team has totaled 15 men's water polo conferences titles.  

Krmek clinched the 2018 MVP recognition for his 59 goals and 42 steals during the season. He participated in 27 games and played a valuable role on creating opportunities for the Vikings. Krmek's shooting average was 68.6 percent and he also was a catalyst to the offense with 14 assists.

Carsalade earns first-team honors for the second year in a row as an overall well-rounded player for the Vikings. He led the team in blocks with eight blocks, and stole the ball on 40 different occasions. On the offensive side, Carsalade made 63 goals for the Vikings.

Roscio took home first-team accolades this season for his driving force on offense. He participated in 28 games and led the team with 73 goals. He was a constant threat on offense with his physicality and awareness. He also created many scoring opportunities with totaling 20 assists.

Jackson stepped up his game as he is being recognized for first-team selection. Last year he earned second-team selection. Jackson contributed his efforts with nine assists, 10 steals and totaled six goals.

Mercep rounds out the first-team honors for his amazing show on offense. He totaled 56 goals this season, averaging about 73.7 percent shooting average. Mercep also contributed defensively with seven steals and two blocks.

Mujica is being recognized with second-team honors for his offensive participation on the Viking's team. The former soccer player led the team in assists, creating 22 scoring opportunities. Mujica also had 27 steals and made 23 goals this season.

Vucurovic finalized the conference selections with earning second-team honors for the Vikings. He totaled seven steals and had 22 goals this season.
