2019 Top Vikings Performance- Men's Water Polo Advanced to the State Championship Final

During the summer, the Vikings will be highlighting some of the Top Team Performances of the 2019-20 year. Due to concerns over COVID-19, competition for all spring sports were canceled halfway through their season.

The top performance for the No. 2 men's water polo team was when they defeated No. 1 Sierra College with a blow out score of 15-5 in the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) State Championship semifinals at Golden West College on Friday, Nov. 22. With the big win, the Vikings advanced to the state championship final to face off with No. 1 Golden West College on Saturday, Nov. 23 at Golden West College.

This was the Vikings' 15th State Tournament appearance since 2000, and the 10th in the past 12 years. The Vikings are the second winningest program in CCCAA history for men's water polo, with nine CCCAA Championships, with the last in 2015.

This was the sixth meetup of the season with the Golden West Rustlers, as the Vikings were held a 3-2 record over them before the state championship final.

In the state championship final, the Vikings fell 10-9 in the fourth quarter and ultimately lost the state title, but the Vikings had a banner year as they finished the season with an overall 29-4 record, and were undefeated in conference with a 7-0 record.
