Men’s Cross Country: Vikings open John Goldman era with 3rd place finish

New head coach John Goldman and the Long Beach City College men's cross country made a successful debut by opening the season with a third-place finish at the UC San Diego Season Opener meet.

The Vikings totaled 68 points to finish behind host UCSD (18 points) and Point Loma Nazarene University (54 points).

Leading Long Beach was top returner Michael Delgado. The sophomore finished in 16th place overall with a time of 24.43.3. Right behind him was sophomore Pedro Cruz at 23.46.3 for 17th place.

Long Beach returns to action next Friday (Sep 7) when it will compete at the Palomar Invitational at Guajome Park in Oceanside.
