Men’s Cross Country: LBCC brings home top-10 finish from Palomar Invite

Top performances from sophomores Michael Delgado and Pedro Cruz allowed the Long Beach City College men's cross country team to take sixth place with a total of 138 points at the Palomar Invitational held at Guajome Park in Oceanside on Friday.

Delgado who clocked in with a time of 22:33.27 placed 13th overall followed by Cruz who finished with a time of 22:44.23 placing 15th.

Under the new coaching supervision of John Goldman, the Long Beach City College men's cross country team aim to qualify for the state championships held at Woodward Park in Fresno on November 17.

Goldman, former cross country coach at Cerritos College, was brought in to bring the Vikings long distance running legacy back to its glory of the 80s and 90s.

Long Beach returns to action next Saturday (Sep 15) when it will compete at the Orange Coast Classic at Fairview Park in Costa Mesa. The event will also serve as the Southern California Preview meet.
