Men's Cross Country: Torres earns All-American honors, Vikings 23rd at State Championships

Long Beach City College sophomore Omar Torres (Warren HS) cruised to an 11th-place finish to lead the Vikings at the 2014 California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Cross Country State Championship on Saturday in Fresno.

Torres cleared the four-mile course at Woodward Park with a time of 20:34.4 to wrap up his LBCC career and was named All-American by finishing among the state's top 14.

As a squad, Long Beach totaled 585 points to finish 23rd out of 28 teams. Under second-year head coach Julio Jimenez, LBCC made its first appearance at the state championships in nearly 20 years.

College of the Canyons won the team state title with 79 points and Hartnell College's Diego Leon was the men's individual winner with a time of 20:09.4.
