Cross Country Places 5th at South Coast Conference Championships

Over the weekend, the men's and women's cross country teams raced in the 2017 South Coast Conference Championships.

The women's team placed 5th with 166 points. Sophomore Destiny Diaz led the team by placing 20th with a time of 20:47.5 and averaging 6:55.9 per mile. Freshman Lilyanna Figueroa finished in 34th for the Vikings with a time of 21:59.2, followed by sophomore Ocean Sandoval with a time of 23:40.7.

The men's cross country team placed in 7th with 177 points and a total time of 1:58.55. Freshman Rafael Gonzalez was the first to cross the finish line for the Vikings with a time of 22:58.4 in 33rd place. Closely behind him was freshman Oscar Morales averaging 5:55.3 per mile and Donovan Zavala with a total time of 23:51.2.

The Vikings will hit the trail again on Friday, Nov. 3 at the Southern California Regional Championships in Santa Clarita.
