The men's and women's cross country teams both placed sixth in the South Coast Conference Championships over the weekend at the Don Knabe Community Regional Park in Cerritos.

The women's team garnered 154 points with sophomore Lilyanna Figueroa placing the highest on the team with 16^th place with a time of 19:53.1 and averaged 6:20.8 per mile. Freshman Dasani Zavala was right behind Figueroa with an 18^th place finish with a time of 19:52.6. Figueroa has improved greatly as she placed 34^th in 2017 South Coast Conference Championships with a time of 21:59.2.

On the men's side, sophomore Moises Marquez topped the chart for Long Beach with an 11^th place finish and averaged 5:09.3 per mile and held a 20.37.1 overall time. Marquez also received All- South Coast Conference Second Team honors for placing in the top 14. Sophomore Rafael Gonzalez came in 18^th with a time of 20:54.2 and then was followed by freshman Evan Ridgeway with a time of 22.46.7.

Both the men's and women's teams qualified for the SoCal Championships which will be this Friday, Nov. 2 at the Don Knabe Community Regional Park in Cerritos at 10 a.m.
