Long Beach men capture second at Canyons Cross Country Invite

The Long Beach City College men's cross country team totaled 49 points to finish in second place on Friday at the College of the Canyons Cross Country Invite in Santa Clarita.

Freshman Leonardo Acevedo finished in sixth place overall to lead the Vikings. He cleared the four-mile course with a time of 23:14.0.

Joining Acevedo in the top 20 were freshmen Nathan Garcia (15th place, 24:46.2), Ramon Lopez-Cadena (18th, 25:16.5), Abraham Romero-Tobar (19th, 25:17.4), and Gerardo Rubio *20th, 25:18.3).

Saddleback College won the men's team title with 17 points, led by individual champion Nathan Trueman who ran 21:50.5.

LBCC returns to action on Sep. 17 when the Vikings will compete at the SoCal Regionals Preview Meet.
